Life Drawing Classes

Picture
I tutor a life drawing class at The Cooper Gallery, Barnsley. This class caters for artists of all abilities and covers a wide variety of artist's techniques and media in response to the figure.
Classes are Tuesday mornings, 10-12, and held in conjunction with the WEA.

Models are regulary changed as to offer students different body types and age ranges. Male and female models are employed and are fully nude.
Typically, the class begins with a series of short poses to act as a warm up, then we progress to a half hour and hour pose, not forgetting the coffee break!
The classes are in 10 week blocks with a half term holiday....

I have produced 9 art demonstration videos in 2010 for the OCA as educational support for their Degree courses. These are now viewable on their website www.oca-uk.com.

I am now also filming DVD's for a firm based in Liverpool.... more details and weblinks to follow when they have been edited and are available for public viewing!

  • Drawing human portraits from life
  • Clothed or nude figures
  • Acrylic or watercolour landscape
  • Life drawing
  • Feathers and fur

What you can expect from me if you book me for an art group demonstration:
2 to 3 hours of lively informative chat taking a sketch through to a completed painting, covering drawing out techniques, negative space, blocking in, layering, glazing, dry brushwork and detail techniques. Plus information on using different media, styles and techniques, presentation, framing, exhibiting and sales platforms....
Prices from £75 plus travel within a 50 mile radius. Please email for an individual quote and demonstration outline.

_DEMONSTRATION FOR WEST RIDING WATERCOLOUR SOCIETY... 2012

I demonstrated a golden lab portrait in Atelier Interactive acrylics... The working time was just short of two hours so I really had to work quickly. The image is 16 x 20" on canvas panel. As you can see, I encouraged all group members to have a 'hands on' experience and try the paint during the half time break.......

Workshops and tuition

I am available for private tuition on any subject or medium to individuals or small groups. I can accommodate up to 6 students in my purpose built studio near Barnsley.
Group workshops can be arranged where I act as a visiting tutor for one-off sessions, or as a course tutor for blocks of up to 10 weeks.

Teaching style
I often demonstrate to show a technique or illustrate a point rather than just sit down and talk. The Adult Learning team I was part of in Barnsley received a Grade 1 'Outstanding' from Ofsted on two occasions in the last 4 years. I am very down to earth, likeable and approachable, and more importantly... FUN !!!
